The London borough of Richmond upon Thames

 

Richmond upon Thames is one of the 33 boroughs that make up Greater London, it is located in south west London and is considered to be an outer London region. As it's name suggests it's situated along the river Thames and is considered a very beautiful London borough as well as being home to some of the wealthiest Londoners.

The 17 different electoral wards of Richmond upon Thames are:

  • Barnes Also known as Barnes village it is a very attractive and therefore expensive part of London and commands some of London's highest property prices. It is home to many boutique shops and renowned restaurants. There's plenty of green space too which includes the WWT London Wetlands Centre "an urban oasis for wildlife and people.
  • East Sheen - If it's good schools you're after East Sheen may be the place for you but this has had an affect on the value of local properties which can easily sell for £1,000,000+. This area is also dominated with green space and is in very close proximity to Richmond Park one of the greatest parks London has to offer.
  • Fulwell Is a small area that is close to Hampton, Teddington and Twickenham and is a upmarket residential area.
  • Ham This is another picturesque village of Richmond which attracts large property prices and includes Ham Common which is a conservation area the second largest area of common land in Richmond borough.
  • Hampton Home to a large number of good schools makes this a very attractive place to live for families. It is a suburban area and like most areas in Richmond it has a village feel and is situated on the north bank of the river Thames.
  • Hampton Court Situated is very close proximity to Hampton and Hampton Hill it is famous as being the home of Hampton Court Palace which is one of the capitals Historic Royal Palaces 
  • Hampton Hill Neighbouring with Fulwell, Teddington, Hampton and Hanworth Hampton Hill is a small town in the borough of Richmond. It is mostly a residential area and contains a wonderful high street occupied by many independent businesses.
  • Hampton Wick Located next to Teddington and Kingston upon Thames it is situated just north of the River Thames. Like many areas in Richmond it is largely residential with property prices that easily reach in the millions.
  • Kew This is a very expensive residential area due the area having plenty of good schools, open parks and green spaces, transport links and a varied offering of restaurants and independent shops. This is an area made famous by the Royal Botanic Gardens, known as Kew which is a world heritage site.
  • Mortlake Famous as being the finishing point of the annual Oxford and Cambridge boat race and is situated on the river Thames by Barnes and Kew, like most places in Richmond it is an expensive residential area which is popular with commuters who work in the city of London.
  • Petersham Situated in close proximity to the picturesque village of Ham it is an area dominated with open spaces and parks such as Petersham Meadows and offers great views of Richmond Park
  • St Margarets Offers a great shopping experience situated in Crown Road and St Margarets Road which is comprised of mainly independent shops ranging from high quality butchers, haberdashery, specialist jewellery and an award winning cheese retailer. It is in close proximity to Twickenham
  • Strawberry Hill Home to Strawberry Hill House a grand gothic stately home. It is an expensive leafy suburb of London on the north bank of the river Thames
  • Richmond Richmond is an area made famous by Richmond Park an ancient area of woodland it is a great place to live with great transport links, open spaces, theatres, museums and shopping areas.
  • Teddington Another affluent area of Richmond it is located on the north bank of the river Thames and is close to Strawberry Hill and Twickenham, it also boasts it's own high street complete with pubs, restaurants and open spaces.
  • Twickenham Made famous through Twickenham stadium a world famous rugby venue it is a very affluent area which has many good schools. On Church street you can find an assortment of boutique shops.
  • Whitton The third largest town centre in the borough of Richmond it has over 100 shops and like many other areas of Richmond it is very affluent.
