But we can also use this data to help you find out where not to live! The following are the top ten areas for crime in the East Midlands and were ranked according to crimes reported as per 1000 residents. The crimes have also been categorised into groups such as violent crime, drugs, burglary as detailed in our table.

Crimes are calculated as cases per 1000 residents.

The results

Fortunately the most prevalent type of crime was antisocial crime which can vary from suffering noisy neighbours to vandalism and graffiti. A few areas that stand out as having high rates of violent crime are Nottingham and Leicester, whilst the area of lowest violent crime was Wellingborough which ranked 8th on our list.

Derby was ranked 3rd in the highest areas of crime in the East Midlands and had the highest rate of anti social crime. The area with the highest incidence of drug crime was Nottingham which ranked 2nd.
