But we can also use this data to help you find out where not to live! The following are the top ten areas for crime in eastern England and were ranked according to crimes reported as per 1000 residents. The crimes have also been categorised into groups such as violent crime, drugs, burglary as detailed in our table.
Crimes are calculated as cases per 1000 residents.
The results
Fortunately the most prevalent type of crime was antisocial crime which can vary from suffering noisy neighbours to vandalism and graffiti. The highest area of crime in England is the city of London area located in central London which had a crime rate of all crime as 1,317.
The two areas of Kingston upon Hull and North East Lincolnshire stand out as having the highest levels of violent crime. Both these areas coincidentally have the highest rates of burglary, but have very low occurrences of anti-social crimes.
Barnsley which came in 8th has the highest rates of drug crimes, whilst Scarborough had the lowest levels of burglary. Bradford which came in at 9th place had the highest levels of vehicle crimes. Rotherham and Sheffield had the lowest rates of violent crime.
