Once vegans were cruelly thought of as being a bit odd but it seems this is a lifestyle that is here to stay. Being Vegan has great health benefits for us such as significantly lower rates of cancer, heart disease, younger looking skin, increased energy and longer lifespans. But it's also good for the environment too. 

So if you're a vegan in search of a tasty meal, or just want to give a plant based diet a try, here are findahood's top five vegan restaurants in London, as all vegans know that eating out can be such a pain.

Manna (vegan, gluten free, organic)

Manna's is London's oldest vegetarian restaurant and became vegan a few years ago. It is located in trendy Primrose Hill and serves a variety of foods such as carribbean pot stews, enchilda bakes, Sunday Roasts, and has great deserts that our kind to the planet and our waistlines.

Karamel Restaurant/Bar (vegan, vegan alcohol)

At Karamel's even the alcohol is vegan. I can't tell you how surprised I was to learn that not all wines are vegetarian let alone vegan. It does make you wonder just what goes into our food and drinks. Karamel's also serves as a bar and music restaurant and hosts London Vegan Drinks each month. They have a great selection of vegan cakes and do a highly recommended Sunday Nut Roast Wellington.

LoveGift Vegan Cafe (vegan)

Located in Brockley, south-east London this is a really exciting cafe (and take-away too). On Mondays to Wednesdays they run a variety of workshops and events helping to educate and inspire newcomers and old-timers to veganism. They offer raw and cooked foods which draw upon the Carribbean's rich multicultural history of cuisine as well as vegan pizzas, burgers and wraps.

The Waiting Room (vegan, gluten free)

Located on Deptford High Street in south-east London is a small friendly vegan cafe that also offers great and reasonably priced vegan food as well as vegan beers. On their menu, you'll find burgers, hot dogs, vegan sausage rolls and cakes. They also have wheat free options too. And did I tell you they also do cocktails!

222 Veggie Vegan (vegan, gluten free)

Located in West London, this fine dining restaurant opened back in 2004 and has quickly earned a great reputation. They have a huge range of dishes with plenty of gluten and wheat free options. They offer really healthy dishes, but don't compromise on taste.
